Independence Day Information

Willoughby city hall will be closed on Friday, July 3 in observance of the Independence Day Holiday. Refuse collection will be on its regular day all week.

Willoughby Summer Concert Series is Bigger and Better Than Ever!

This year, Willoughby's summer concert series features returning favorites and exciting new performers. The concerts will kick-off on Thursday, June 25 at 7:00 pm and are scheduled every Thursday after that through September 10. All concerts will be in Wes Point Park Gazebo except for the June 25th concert. The Lakeland Civic Band will be performing in City Hall parking lot to get the concert season started.

Going to an Amusement Park?

Before you go, call the parks and recreation office at 953-4200. They sell discounted tickets to Cedar Point, Kings Island, Geauga Lake's Wildwater Kingdom and Pioneer Waterland & Dry Fun Park. You will be surprised how much you may save by stopping at the parks and recreation first. Tickets can be purchased with cash or check only, sorry no credit cards.

First Fridays

Beginning March 6, 2009 - Shop, dine and discover beautiful historic downtown Willoughby, Ohio on Erie Street at Route 20 during extended hours each first Friday evening of the month. Select downtown merchants will be open late for visitors to enjoy featured activities, events, music and shopping specials. Join us every first Friday and take an evening stroll through downtown Willoughby.

The Historic Downtown Willoughby Merchants Association dedicates every first Friday to bringing together the public, and the businesses, for a greater understanding, appreciation, promotion and development of a strong and vital downtown Willoughby, Ohio.

Council Meetings: Summer Schedule

City Council will meet only once each month during the summer. Join us for our meetings on June 9, July 7, and August 4. We will return to our regular schedule - the first and third Tuesday of every month - in September.

Have you ever wondered what takes place at a City Council Meeting? You can find out by attending a Council Meeting, which is held on the first and third Tuesday of every month (except June, July, and August, when we meet only on the first Tuesday) at 8:00 p.m. All Council meetings and committee meetings are open to the public.

Do you have a question or comment? Every Regular Council Meeting has a public portion where citizens are given the opportunity to ask questions or comment on legislation appearing on the agenda or regarding any other subject.

June Family Fun Night

Bring the entire family to enjoy an evening out. Touch a Truck is back! Thursday, June 25 from 5 - 7pm. Look at city service department trucks, fire trucks, police cars, mowers and more. Kids will get to climb into the various vehicles and even honk the horns.

West Side Market Trip

"Smoke Showing" - A short film about fires and firefighters

Smoke Showing” is a short film that visually demonstrates the dangers and challenges faced by firefighters during a structural fire. It offers answers to why firefighters break windows and cut holes in roofs. It also demonstrates the needs for an aggressive interior attack coupled with adequate resources in order to save lives and reduce property loss.

City Announcements

ROUTE 2 RAMP CLOSURE

Beginning on Monday, June 22 the following Route 2 ramps will close for 45 days.

Route 2 Eastbound Off Ramps to Route 306 North and South and the Route 306 On Ramp to Route 2 Eastbound.

ODOT will install a sign at the Route 2-Interstate 90 split advising eastbound motorists to take I-90 if they need to exit at Route 306, and Mentor is adding its own warning signs and changing the timing of several traffic lights to accommodate an expected increase in traffic at Route 615.

Detour routes will be posted.

Eastbound motorists should use I-90 to Route 306 as an alternate route.

Animal Control

With the return of warm weather, we'll all be seeing more wild animals in our area. The Lake County Health District has some tips and rules to follow when your wildlife encounters take a bad turn.
